How Christmas Light Installation Quotes Are Typically Calculated
6 min read
The factors that usually shape a holiday lighting quote in San Antonio, from roofline footage to access and removal.
There is no flat rate, and that is normal
Holiday lighting pricing is built from measurements and labor, not from a menu. Two houses on the same street can price differently because of roof height, tree count, or how easy it is to reach the second story.
The factors below are common across the industry. Your final quote comes from the independent contractor after they review your request.
Common pricing factors
- • Linear footage of roofline to be lit
- • Installation height and roof pitch
- • Number of separate lighting areas: roof, trees, shrubs, pathway, entry
- • Design complexity and color choices
- • Access to the work area and to power outlets
- • Light type, quality, and whether you or the contractor supplies materials
- • Whether removal is part of the job
- • Whether off-season storage is requested
- • Timing — rush requests late in the season can cost more
Materials versus labor
First-year projects often cost more because materials are custom cut to your property. In later years, if the same materials are reused and stored, the labor portion becomes the bigger share of the quote.
If you supply your own lights, ask whether the contractor will install them. Some will; some prefer their own materials for consistency.
How to compare quotes fairly
- • Check what is included: roofline only, or trees and walkways too?
- • Ask whether removal is in the price or separate
- • Confirm who owns the materials at the end of the season
- • Ask about mid-season service if a section stops working
- • Get it in writing before scheduling
