When Should You Schedule Christmas Light Installation in San Antonio?

A month-by-month guide to booking holiday light installation in San Antonio, from early-fall quote requests through January removal.
The short answer: earlier than you think
San Antonio holiday lighting is a compressed season. Most installation happens across about six weeks, and the best weekends get claimed first. Requesting a quote in late summer or early fall gives you the widest range of dates.
Waiting until the week of Thanksgiving does not mean you cannot get lights up. It does mean fewer available slots and less flexibility on the exact day.
A month-by-month view
- • August and September: request quotes, talk through design, and lock in a date. Contractors have open calendars.
- • October: still a good window. Many installers begin hanging lights late in the month for early-season customers.
- • Early November: peak booking. Availability starts tightening, especially for weekends.
- • Mid to late November: the busiest stretch. Requests are still possible but dates are limited.
- • December: primarily repairs, adjustments, and last-minute jobs where availability allows.
- • January and February: removal season, and a good time to talk about next year.
Why San Antonio timing is a little different
Warm fall weather means installers can work comfortably later into the season than crews in colder markets. That is helpful, but it does not create more weekends. The calendar is still the constraint.
Large properties, HOA common areas, and commercial buildings need the most lead time because approvals and scheduling add weeks before any work happens.
What to have ready when you request a quote
- • Your ZIP code and property type
- • Which areas you want lit: roofline, trees, walkways, entryway
- • A rough budget range, if you have one
- • Whether you want removal and off-season storage
- • Photos of the property from the street
